Hi, I'm Nicola!
I'm the owner of NC Accounting. I have worked in finance for over 10 years with a background in management accounting. Like many finance professionals, I didn’t set out to work in finance, life just lead me that way! I have tried my hand at many things including hairdressing, working with animals, and banking but I didn’t enjoy any of them anywhere near as much as I love running my own accountancy practice. After taking maternity leave from my most recent job doing management accounts for a large company, I made the (very scary) decision to not go back into paid employment and to start my own practice.
I started NC Accounting to be that friend in business for small businesses. Aside from having my head in the day-to-day bookkeeping, I really wanted to play a bigger role in helping business owners achieve their goals. I have found the one thing that often holds businesses back from reaching their full potential is dealing with all the numbers. I hear it all the time "I have always been rubbish at maths." But that's okay! You don't have to be a mathematician. What you really need is someone by your side who can break down those numbers for you. That’s where I come in!
I am based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. I love visiting the businesses I work with, but I am fully set up to work remotely if required. I am a natural problem solver and enjoy working with my clients to understand their needs and find solutions. One of my core values is open communication and I am determined to break that stereotype of an accountant in a suit who comes out from behind their computer once per year!
